Government to go cashless for payment of projects

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia says government will soon curtail the receipts and payments of project with physical cash.

This is to encourage the use of electronic payment system as it strives to move the country into a cashless society.

He said as government strategies to formalise the economy, the financial sector is one key area which will not be left behind.

He was speaking at the launch of PaySwitch, an indigenous Ghanaian company which seeks to provide a fast, safe and convenient payment system for the public.

This comes on the back of the launch of the mobile money interoperability system.

Vice President Bawumia reiterated government's commitment to support business startups who leverage on technology to transform the economy.
